The Bellevue University baseball team under head coach Duane Monlux announced today the signing of a pair of high school standouts from the state of Washington who will join the team next season. The newest Bruins are Elijah Dickerson (Vancouver, Wash./Heritage HS) and Sjohn Williamson, Jr. (Vancouver, Wash./Evergreen HS).
Dickerson, the son of Andre and Natalee Dickerson, prepped at Heritage High School under head coach Mitch Ratigan. He batted .340 during his junior season with five doubles. He earned team MVP honors in 2012, while also garnering first team all-league honors as well as Gold Glove accolades.
Dickerson also competed in basketball while at Heritage, earning MVP recognition during his freshman season.
Williamson, the son on Sjohn and Kimberly Williamson, played for head coach Chad Burchett at Evergreen High School where he batted .455 during the 2012 season. He earned first team all-league honors in 2012 and was a two-time Gold Glove winner during his career.
Williamson also earned varsity letters in basketball during his career at EHS.
Both Dickerson and Williamson competed for Showtime Baseball summer club team under coach Billy Hayes. Showtime is the same club former Bruin pitching standout and current assistant coach Chris Williamson played for.
"We are excited to bring in two freshman recruits with the ability of Sjohn and Elijah," said Monlux. "We look forward to seeing how these two guys progress in our program."
Dickerson and Williamson join earlier signee Christian Sidener in the 2013 recruiting class.
The 2012 Bruins finished with a 40-21 overall record, winning the MCAC regular season with a 17-3 mark, advancing the NAIA National Tournament for the second-straight year.
