Bruins Sweep (RV) MSUN for 11th-Straight Win
BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The seventh-ranked Bellevue University volleyball team extended its winning streak to 11 matches — all in Frontier Conference play — with a 3–0 (25–21, 25–19, 25–18) sweep over (RV) Montana State University–Northern on Friday night at the BU Fieldhouse.
With the victory, Bellevue improved to 21–3 overall and 17–2 in league play, while the Skylights fell to 15–10 overall and 13–6 in the Frontier Conference.
Eve Fountain recorded her team-leading 10th double-double of the season, finishing with 11 kills, 10 digs, and one ace. The performance moved her career total to 1,800 kills, keeping her at No. 2 on BU's all-time list, now 86 shy of Sierra Athen's program record (1,886; 2018–22).
Kealy Kiviniemi also reached double figures with 10 kills on .350 hitting, while Bentlee Kollbaum contributed nine kills, and Savanna Berger added eight kills and two blocks. Chloe Cloud anchored the front line with five kills and a match-high five blocks.
Bellevue outhit MSUN .279 to .194, finishing with 49 kills to 37, while out-blocking the Skylights 7.0 to 4.0.
The setting trio of Mila Aiwohi (25 assists), Jada Nunn (12), and Victoria Runyan (7) combined for 44 assists, and Zoie Roghair paced the defense with 13 digs.
For MSUN, Macy Uffelman led the attack with 10 kills on .320 hitting. Macee Selman added seven kills, 17 assists, and 11 digs, and Josie Hasler finished with five kills and a team-high 14 digs. Lexi Jones chipped in three kills and four blocks, and Emily Bird had 12 assists and one ace.
Set 1 — Bellevue 25, MSU–Northern 21
After three straight MSUN kills and a BU attack error gave the Skylights a 17–14 advantage, the Bruins answered with an 11–4 closing run sparked by three kills from Kiviniemi and a late ace by Fountain. Bellevue finished the frame on an MSUN attack error to secure the opener, 25–21.
Set 2 — Bellevue 25, MSU–Northern 19
The second set featured nine ties before Bellevue pulled away late. Following a Hasler kill that evened the score at 15-all, the Bruins closed on a 10–4 spurt as five different players recorded kills during the stretch. A Kiviniemi kill capped the frame, putting BU ahead two sets to none.
Set 3 — Bellevue 25, MSU–Northern 18
MSUN jumped ahead 3–0 early, but Bellevue responded with a 12–2 run capped by a Berger kill to seize a 12–5 lead. The Skylights closed the gap to 16–12 after kills by Uffelman and Jones and an ace from Brooklyn Minden, but the Bruins answered with a 9–6 finish highlighted by two Cloud blocks and a final Uffelman attack error to complete the sweep.
