Women's cross country projected fourth in NSAA preseason poll
The Bellevue University women’s cross country team has been picked to finish fourth in the six-team North Star Athletic Association, in the annual preseason poll of NSAA coaches.
BISMARCK, N.D. -- The Bellevue University women's cross country team has been picked to finish fourth in the six-team North Star Athletic Association, in the annual preseason poll of NSAA coaches.
Bellevue placed fourth a year ago at the 2021 conference championship meet, which was hosted by BU at Platteview Country Club. Madison Nelson won the individual title, the first ever by a Bruin runner, to qualify for the NAIA Cross Country National Championships in Vancouver, Wash.
Dickinson State topped the poll with 32 points, collecting three first place votes edging out Viterbo who earned 30 points and a pair of first place votes. Dakota State was chosen third with 23 points and the final first place vote followed by Bellevue in fourth with 20 points. Valley City (12) and Waldorf (9) were picked fifth and sixth, respectively.
This year's championship race will be run at Heart River Golf Course in Dickinson, N.D. on Friday, Nov. 4. The team champion will represent the North Star at the NAIA Cross Country National Championships at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Fla. on Nov. 18.
