Fountain named Frontier Conference Attacker of the Week
HELENA, Mont. -- Senior outside hitter Eve Fountain has been named Frontier Conference Attacker of the Week, marking her first honor of the season and the sixth of her Bellevue University career. She also becomes the first Bruin to earn a weekly award since the program joined the Frontier Conference.
Fountain delivered a pair of impressive performances at the College of Saint Mary Labor Day Classic, hitting .455 and recording a double-double with 12 kills and 17 digs in BU's 3-0 sweep of No. 1 Indiana Wesleyan—a rematch of last year's NAIA national championship. Over the two-match tournament, she averaged 3.8 kills and 4.3 digs per set while hitting .345. She added 11 kills, nine digs, and two blocks in a straight-set win over (RV) Dakota Wesleyan, helping the Bruins finish the weekend 2-0.
Bellevue (4-1) enters conference play ranked No. 2 in the latest NAIA Top 25 Coaches' Poll. The Bruins open Frontier Conference action on Friday night with a 6 p.m. road matchup against Bismarck State College in Bismarck, N.D.
