Galas garners NSAA Setter of the Week accolades
For the fifth time this season and the 24th time in her career, junior All-American Olivia Galas has been named the North Star Athletic Association's Setter of the Week for her performances last week in a pair of road matches to end the regular season.
BISMARCK, N.D. -- For the fifth time this season and the 24th time in her career, junior All-American Olivia Galas has been named the North Star Athletic Association's Setter of the Week for her performances last week in a pair of road matches to end the regular season.
Galas nearly recorded a triple-double in No. 11 Bellevue's 3-0 sweep at Waldorf, finishing with 24 set assists, nine digs, and eight kills. She also had 45 set assists, seven digs, and seven kills in the Bruins' five-set loss at No. 2 Viterbo. For the week, Galas produced 69 set assists (8.6 set assists per set), 16 digs (2.0 digs per set), and 15 kills (1.9 kills per set. She recorded a hitting percentage of .452, committing just one attack error in 31 swings.
Galas currently leads the NSAA and ranks fifth nationally with 11.31 assists per set. Among setters who run a 5-1 offense, Galas ranks first nationally with 1.38 kills per set.
The Bruins will travel to Watertown, S.D. this Friday-Saturday, Nov. 12-13 to compete in the NSAA Tournament at the Watertown Civic Arena. Bellevue (22-6, 11-3 NSAA) earned the No. 2 seed in the six-team tournament and received a bye along with top-seeded Viterbo University. The Bruins will play the winner of the 10 a.m. Presentation College vs. Dakota State match at 5 p.m. on Friday night.
