Junior volleyball outside hitter Andrea Carson is this year’s recipient of Bellevue University’s Female Academic Athlete of the Year.
The 2019 Bellevue University volleyball season ranked among the program's best overall seasons as BU continued its consistent tradition of success both on and off the court. It marked the 12th time in school history the Bruins qualified for the NAIA National Tournament after finishing second in the North Star Athletic Association regular-season standings. BU finished the year with a No. 19 final national ranking.
A trio of Bruins earned NAIA and AVCA All-American honors in an announcement made today by both organizations. Sophomore setter Olivia Galas (Bellevue, Neb.) was named to the first team while sophomore outside hitter Sierra Athen (Red Oak, Iowa) earned second-team honors and junior outside hitter Andrea Carson (Ord, Neb.) garnered honorable mention accolades.
Olivia Galas, Sierra Athen, Andrea Carson, and Coree Lipovsky named first-team all-Region. Galas earns Region Player of the Year nod.

The 2019 Bellevue University women's volleyball team will be one of the youngest squads in the program's 41-year history, but also one of the most talented. The Bruins boast a program-high 18 players on the 2019 roster, with no seniors, one junior, 10 sophomores, and seven freshmen.
