Bruin head volleyball coach Trish Siedlik announced today the signing of 5-9 middle blocker Brooklyn Hundt (Underwood, Iowa/Tri-Center HS) to a letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic careers at Bellevue University beginning in the fall of 2019.
Hundt was a four-time letterwinner under coach Rachel Eikenberry at Tri-Center High School, helping lead the Trojans to an appearance in the 2018 Iowa State Tournament (Class 2A) and to four-straight Western Iowa Conference (WIC) regular-season titles. A 2018 team captain, Hundt was a two-time first-team all-conference selection while earning third team all-state honors as a senior and honorable mention all-state accolades as a junior.
Hundt, who was named to the all-tournament team in five tournaments throughout her career, led the WIC in 2018 in blocks (67), attack efficiency (.377) and serving efficiency (.955). She was ranked 15th in the state in Class 2A in total kills with 339.
"Brooklyn is a natural athlete who has been well coached at the high school and club levels," said Siedlik. "Her excellent court sense, quickness, and intelligent play will make her a force in the middle. Her ceiling is high and we can't wait to see her learn and grow as a Bruin."
Hundt played club volleyball at Premier Volleyball Club in Omaha under coach Ashley Beccard. She helped her team qualify for the 2017 and 2018 USA Junior Nationals in Minneapolis and Detroit.
A versatile athlete, Hundt qualified for the 2018 Iowa State Track & Field Championships in three separate relays (4x400, 4x200, and 4x100) and helped lead her team to the 2018 District 10 championship as well as a third-place finish at State in the 4x400 meter relay.
An outstanding student, Hundt was a member of the National Honor Society and 4.0 Club through her high school career as well as an academic letter winner and the recipient of the Distinguished Academic Award all four years.
The Bruins travel to Palos Heights, Ill. this Saturday, Nov. 17, for an NAIA National Championship Opening Round match at Trinity Christian College beginning at 7 p.m.
