Volleyball signs Arlington's Cheyenne Mahnke
Cheyenne Mahnke, a 5-6 defensive specialist, becomes the Bruins' second signee in the 2017 recruiting class.
Bellevue University head volleyball coach Trish Siedlik announced today the signing of 5-6 defensive specialist/outside hitter Cheyenne Mahnke (Fremont, Neb./Arlington HS) to a letter of intent to continue her athletic and academic careers at BU beginning in the fall of 2017.
Mahnke becomes the second recruit in the Bruins' 2017 recruiting class, joining 5-8 outside hitter Andrea Carson (Ord, Neb./Ord HS).
The daughter of Emily and Ken Mahnke, Cheyenne played for coach Brandon Mues at Arlington High School. She has led the Eagles to a 17-4 record so far this season and is currently second on the team in digs and service aces.
During her junior season at Fremont High School, Mahnke earned all-conference honors while also earning letters in basketball and track.
"I am very happy to snag a player that demonstrates hard work on the court, in the classroom and also in the weight room," said Siedlik. "Cheyenne is a very strong athlete and has the work ethic to become a very solid player for the Bruins."
An excellent student, Mahnke was named to her school's honor roll since her freshman year.
Mahnke played club volleyball for Nebraska Juniors Volleyball Club under coaches Craig Songster and Lindsay Burkey.
The Bruins return to action on Friday, Oct. 14, when they travel to Madison, S.D. for a 7 p.m. conference match at Dakota State University.
