Siedlik signs first 2017 recruit; Ord's Andrea Carson

Bruin head volleyball coach Trish Siedlik announced the signing of 5-8 outside hitter Andrea Carson (Ord, Neb./Ord HS) to a letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic careers at Bellevue University beginning in the fall of 2017.

Carson is the Bruins' first recruit in the 2017 class. 

The daughter of Neal and Kathy Carson, Andrea is coached by Wendy Alexander at Ord High School. Her twin sister, Ashley is the Chanticleers' setter. Her older sister Nicki is a senior rightside hitter at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

Carson helped lead Ord to a 31-4 record in 2015 and a runner-up finish at the 2015 Nebraska State Volleyball Tournament in Class C-1, where she also earned all-tournament team honors. Ord is currently 13-2 on the 2016 season and ranked No. 9 in Class C-1. 

"Andrea is a competitor. She has been a part of a program that breeds winning," said Siedlik. "She is well trained and her athleticism will allow her to have a high ceiling. What makes her the complete package is her academics. We are very excited to have the Carson family join ours."

Carson was a first team Class C-1 all-state selection as well as a two-time all-conference honoree. She led the 2015 Chanticleers in kills with 324, was third with 312 digs and fifth in service aces with 25.

Carson lettered two years in basketball and was a three-time state qualifier and medalist at the Nebraska State Track and Field Championships. She is a member of the school record-setting 4x800 relay team. 

An excellent student, Carson has been a 4.0 Honor Roll student every quarter of her high school career. She was a academic all-conference and all-state selection in both volleyball and track and is a member of the National Honor Society.

She intends to major in business at BU.

The 18th-ranked Bruins will travel to Jamestown, N.D. on Friday, Sept. 30 for a key 7 p.m. match at No. 22 University of Jamestown. The match has been designated as the NAIA Match of the Week.
