BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The Bellevue University volleyball team won a pair of matches on Tuesday evening at the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center. Bellevue defeated York 3-0 and edged Grace 3-0 to extend their winning streak to three matches.

The Bruins, receiving votes in the latest Tachikara-NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll, improve to 8-8 overall on the season and remain perfect at home with a record of 6-0.

Match One: Bellevue 3, York 0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-13)

Bellevue rode a strong hitting effort to a 3-0 victory over their intra-state rivals from York College. Bellevue hit .216 in the match while holding York to an .062 attacking effort.

Freshman Shayla Scanlan was the lone player on either side to record a double-figure kill match, finishing with 12 on 22 attempts. Sophomores Mikaylah Gillespie and Rachel Wald finished with seven and five kills, respectively to help in the balanced attack while freshmen Marylyn Mozena and Lauren Colpitts each reached five kills as well.

Senior Beth Walker notched her 10th double-double of the season finishing with 31 assists and 13 digs to go along with a six kill effort. Sophomore Taylor Holz finished with 12 digs and freshman Erin Warren – who led all players with four service aces – added 11 digs.

Match Two: Bellevue 3, Grace 0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-18)

In the nightcap Bellevue hit a season-high .286 while limiting Grace to a hitting percentage of .000 on the match. Bellevue's previous high water mark was a .283 hitting effort in the season-opener against Lewis-Clark State.

Freshman Shayla Scanlan again led the Bruins' offensive effort, finishing with 11 kills and .391 hitting percentage for the match. Sophomore Rachel Wald joined Scanlan in double figures, finishing with 10 kills on the match. Freshman Marylyn Mozena added seven kills while hitting .278.

Senior Beth Walker added another double-double, bringing her season total to 11, finishing with 30 assists and 11 digs to lead the team in both categories. Sophomore Taylor Holz supported the defensive effort with 11 digs of her own.

Bellevue (6-8) returns to action this weekend when they travel to Bourbonnais, Ill. to take part in the Olivet Nazarene Invitational. The Bruins play Judson and Trinity Christian on Friday at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. On Saturday BU matches up with (RV) Cornerstone at 11 a.m. before wrapping up with Davenport at 1 p.m.
