Bellevue University head volleyball coach Trish Siedlik announced today the signing of 5-10 outside hitter Marylyn Mozena (Weeping Water, Neb./Weeping Water HS) to a letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic careers at BU beginning in the fall of 2015.
Mozena, the daughter of Mary and Lawrence Mozena, was a three-time all-conference selection in volleyball at Weeping Water High School under her mother, Mary Mozena. She set numerous school records, including most kills in a match, season and career.
A versatile athlete, Mozena also lettered in basketball and track at WWHS. She earned second team all-state honors in basketball while being named to the all-conference team on three occasions.
"Marylyn has a high volleyball IQ and a competive nature and she is ready to be challenged," said Siedlik. "She will certainly add strength and court awareness to our core of returning players."
An excellent student, Mozena was named to the school's Honor Roll every quarter of her high school career.
Mozena played club volleyball for Nebraska Impact under coach Mike Godek, Jr. where she helped her team qualify for the 2014 USA Volleyball Junior National Tournament in Minneapolis, Minn.
"Marylyn will certainly add depth to our group of pin hitters and she will only get better as she challenges herself every day," added Siedlik.
The Bruins finished the 2014 season with a 22-20 record, placing second in the MCAC regular season with a 6-2 league mark.
