Siedlik signs Gross standout, Gregory

Bruin head volleyball coach Trish Siedlik announced today the signing of Omaha Gross High School standout Niki Gregory to a letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic careers at Bellevue University beginning in the fall of 2011.
Gregory, a 5-9 outside hitter, is the first Bruin recruit signed for the 2011 season.
A member of the 2009 Nebraska Class B state championship team, Gregory earned first team all-state honors under head coach Korrine Schuster and assistant coach Nikki Bails. She was also a two-time first team all-River City Conference and all-area selection while starting all four years on the Gross varsity squad.
"We have been waiting for this day for a long time," said Siedlik. "Niki is the type of player that others are going to want to have as a teammate. She is passionate, she is competitive and she is clutch. This was a big recruit for our program and we are very fortunate to have both Niki and her sister (current Bruin Katy Gregory be a part of our program. We are very glad to have Niki and her family for another four years!"
The Cougars are currently the No. 1-ranked team in the state in Class B and fifth overall.
An excellent student, Gregory earned academic all-state and academic all-conference accolades. She was also on the school's Honor Roll every quarter and a member of the National Honor Society.
Gregory played club volleyball for Premier Volleyball under coaches Rick Welch and Mike Weber.
Gregory is the daughter of David and Renee Gregory. Her sister, Katy, is the Bruins' starting libero and a four-year standout for the BU volleyball team. Katy is the school's all-time digs leaders with 2,208 to date.
