OLATHE, Kan. -- Four players registered at least eight kills as the 20th-ranked Bellevue University volleyball team swept Benedictine College 3-0 (25-19, 25-11, 25-15) in the opening match of the MidAmerica Nazarene Invitational Friday afternoon.
Bellevue improved to 12-3 on the season, with its eighth-straight three-game sweep. The Ravens fell to 6-5 overall.
Junior Maureen Wardian led the Bruins with nine kills on .381 hitting. Jaclyn Thorson, Annie Benson, and Kali Schnacker each added eight kills apiece. Thorson added a match-high three blocks.
Sophomore Jordan Broady directed the balanced attack, collecting 29 assists, while adding a match-high four service aces.
Senior Katy Gregory led the BU defense with 17 digs.
The Bruins will continue action at the tournament later tonight when they meet Baker University at 5 p.m.
