Steinmetz named Frontier Track Athlete of the Week

HELENA, Mont. -- Bellevue University freshman Grace Steinmetz has been named the Frontier Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week, the league office announced today.

Making her outdoor season debut at the WashU Distance Carnival, Steinmetz delivered a historic performance in the 10,000-meter run. She finished sixth in a highly competitive field of 55 entrants, crossing the finish line in a Bellevue school-record time of 35:12.96.

Her record-setting pace eclipsed the NAIA 'A' automatic qualifying standard by over a minute, officially punching her ticket to the NAIA National Championship in Asheville, NC, in late May. Steinmetz's mark currently ranks at the top of the NAIA women's 10,000-meter list.

Up Next: The Bruins will head to Lincoln, Neb., this Friday and Saturday, April 3-4, to compete in the Husker Spring Kickoff at the Nebraska Outdoor Track.
