Avila named the CAC Offensive Player of the Week
Bellevue University sophomore Katrina Avila has been named the Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Avila, a forward from Lincoln, Nebraska, scored three goals in two matches last week to help lead the Bruins to their fourth-straight victory. She found the back of the net once in a 6-0 road win at Briar Cliff before scoring twice—including the match-winner—in a 9-0 rout of Dakota State.
For the week, Avila totaled six points, averaging 1.5 goals and 3.0 shots per game while converting at a .500 shooting percentage. The sophomore continues to be a consistent attacking presence for a high-powered Bellevue offense that has now outscored its opponents 28-3 during the current winning streak.
With the two victories, the Bruins improved to 9-1-2 overall on the season.
Bellevue returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 11, hosting Harris-Stowe State University at 7 p.m. at the Renner Dennis Outdoor Athletic Complex. The contest will also serve as Senior Night for the Bruins.
