WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Second-ranked Northwood (Fla.) University posted a 7-0 win versus the Bellevue University women's soccer team Saturday afternoon at the Arrigo-Vecellio Soccer Field in the NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship Opening Round.
With the win, Northwood improved to 15-1-1 and advanced to the 30th annual NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship final site in Orange Beach, Ala. on Dec. 2-7 at the Orange Beach Sportsplex.
The Bruins end their season with an overall record of 10-8-3.
NU scored four goals in the first period to take a 4-0 lead at halftime.
Johanna Engberg, Hanna Lindstrom and Helen Lynskey each netted second half goals to give the Seahawks the 7-0 win.
Matilda Ojaniemi played all 90 minutes in goal for NU and notched two saves. Sammy Sinecio recorded a career-high 10 saves in the loss.
The Seahawks outshot BU, 29-3, and also held a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks. Lynskey led NU with eight shots and three goals.
Aubriana Batchelor, Mercy Darkoah and Kate Petersen each tallied shots for the Bruins.
