Batchelor signs with women's soccer program

The Bruin women's soccer program is pleased to announce the signing of Aubriana Batchelor to a letter of intent to compete in the upcoming 2012 season. 

Batchelor is the daughter of Charles and Brenda Batchelor and sister to Kylee, Janessa and Brady.  She is currently a senior at Bellevue West High School competing in her final season for the Thunderbirds under head coach Gaut Scherlizin. 

"Aubi is a great addition to our program next year," said Nicolarsen. "Not only is she an exceptional student, but she is also a very gifted soccer player."

A four-year member and a captain of the soccer team, she has helped lead Bellevue West to one of the best seasons in school history this year.  During her time at BWHS, Batchelor was awarded academic all-state honors for her efforts on the field and in the classroom. 

Outside of high school, she played her club soccer for OFC Rapids under coach Mark Waddington.The Rapids are one of the top teams in Nebraska finishing the season in the state cup semifinals and winning the NSL three years in a row.

"Aubi has excellent technique, vision and game awareness," added Nicolarsen. "In addition, she is a very strong competitor.  Aubi will be a big part of our team moving forward."           

Batchelor joins earlier signees Heather Scholl (Plattsmouth, Neb./Plattsmouth HS), Amanda Kuss (Plattsmouth, Neb./Plattsmouth HS), Betsy Fischenich (Omaha, Neb./Burke HS) and Kate Petersen (Springfield, Neb./Platteview HS) in the 2012 recruiting class.

The 2011 Bruins finished the season with a 14-2-3 overall record, winning the MCAC Tournament title and tying for the MCAC regular season crown with a 5-0-1 league record. Bellevue advanced to the NAIA National Championship for the second-straight season and ended the year with a No. 18 final national ranking.
