Suresh leads Bruins to 17th at Music City Classic
OLD HICKORY, Tenn. -- Concluding play against a highly competitive 21-team field, the Bellevue University women's golf team finished in 17th place at the Music City Classic on Tuesday.
The tournament was hosted by Cumberland University at the 6,085-yard, par-72 Hermitage Golf Course. The field featured 12 teams ranked in the NAIA coaches' poll, with more than half the participating programs expected to reach the NAIA National Championship.
The Bruins posted a final round 334 to close the 54-hole event with a total team score of 955 (+91). No. 3-ranked Marian University claimed the team title, finishing at 5-over par to secure an 11-stroke victory over No. 1-ranked Keiser University (+16). No. 6-ranked SCAD Atlanta (+34) rounded out the top three.
Marian's Emma Weiler captured individual medalist honors, shooting a 4-under par 212 for the tournament to edge Keiser's Sophia Sindersberger by a single stroke.
Shreya Suresh paced the Bruins on the final day, shooting a 4-over par 76 to climb the leaderboard and finish in a tie for 45th place at 17-over par (233). Playing a steady final round, she registered a team-high 15 pars to close out her tournament.
Isabella Gomez finished in a tie for 51st place at 19-over par (235) following a final round 85. She tallied nine pars over her final 18 holes.
Nellie Forsen secured a share of 70th place at 24-over par (240) after carding an 86 on Tuesday. She collected seven pars during her final round.
Patricija Jakovleva rounded out the lineup, posting an 87 to finish tied for 84th place at 31-over par (247). She recorded seven pars to complete her tournament.
