Bruins 14th at loaded Music City Classic
OLD HICKORY, Tenn. -- Amongst a field in which more than half the competing teams will be participating in the NAIA National Championship, the Bellevue University women's golf team acquitted itself well on Monday through two rounds of play at the Music City Classic, being hosted by Cumberland University.
The 54-hole tournament is being held at the 6,085-yard, par 72 Hermitage Golf Course.
Bellevue shot a first round 21-over (309) as a team, putting them firmly in the middle of a loaded pack that 12 teams ranked in the NAIA Coaches' Poll and three more that were receiving votes. Through 18 holes, Bellevue was tied for seventh overall in the 21-team field.
The Bruins remained entrenched in the top 10 for much of the second round before finishing a 24-over (312) round that saw them slide to 14th overall with a team score of 621 (+45).

Nellie Forsen shot 10-over on the day, including a 4-over second round in which she posted a team-high five birdies. This was on the back of a steady first round where she pared 12 of 18 holes.
Shreya Suresh netted a 13-over day on her scorecard. She began the day with a 6-over first round and nearly matched it in the second round, shooting 7-over. She birdied a pair of holes on the day, one in each of her rounds.
Patricija Jakovleva produced a very strong 5-over first round and followed with an 11-over second. She totaled three birdies across two rounds of play.
SCAD Atlanta's Holly Lau entered the clubhouse with the individual lead at 3-under after play on Monday, topping the 105-golfer field. She made it through 17 of 18 holes in the second round but was one of a handful of golfers to not finished.
Marian's Maria Kennard and Emma Weiler along with Kesier's Sophia Sindersberger are clumped together in second place. Kennard posted the best individual round of the day with a 4-under first round.
