BU moves up to fifth at RMC Intercollegiate
HENDERSON, Nev. -- After posting their best round of the tournament, the Bellevue University women's golf team moved up to finish in fifth place at the RMC Intercollegiate at Lake Las Vegas.
The 54-hole event was played at the 5.861-yard, par 72 Reflection Bay Golf Course.
Bellevue carded a 335 (+47) team score on the day to jump one spot in the team standings finishing in fifth place at 163-over. Taking home the team title was UBC Okanagan (+71) while the University of British Columbia finished 14 strokes back (+85). Host Rocky Mountain (+117) and Tennessee Southern (+126) were third and fourth while The Master's (+170), Southern Oregon (+185), and Dakota Wesleyan (+280) rounded out the field.
Shreya Suresh was the Bruins' top finisher, moving up one spot and placing 13th overall in the 39-golfer field. She fired and 11-over 83 in Wednesday's final round to shoot 247 (+31) for the tournament.
Nellie Forsen posted a 14-over 86 to match her second round score from Tuesday. She finished in a tie for 19th with a score of 252 (+36) and made par on seven holes on the day.
Isabella Gomez posted a 13-over 85 on Wednesday as she climbed five spots into a tie for 25th overall, finishing at 261 (+45). She registered one of two Bruin birdies on the day, finding the hole on her fourth shot of the 497-yard, par 5 No. 6
Patricija Jakovleva posted the low round of the day for the Bruins with a 9-over 81. That was good enough to move her up three spots into 32nd place on the individual leaderboard as she finished the tournament at 267 (+51). Her round was highlighted by a 3-over 39 on the back nine, including a birdie on the 305-yard, par 4 No. 11.
The Bruins return to the links next week when they compete in the Top of Texas Invitational. First round play tees off on Monday, Mar. 9 from La Paloma Golf Club in Amarillo, Texas.
