BU 12th through two rounds at Roadrunner Invite
DALTON, Ga. -- Led by Nellie Forsen, the Bellevue University women's golf team is in 12th place through two rounds of play at the Dalton Road Runner Fall Invitational.
The event is the Bruins' final event of the fall and being hosted by Dalton State College at the 5,844-yard, par 72 Dalton Country Club.
SCAD Savannah's Yunyi Luo holds a one-stroke lead over Dalton Stat's Sara Burger through two rounds of play. Luo shot 3-over on the day, including a tournament-best 1-under second round while Burger is sitting at four over.
Dalton State's Jia Kataria (+5), William Carey's Gracie Bloom (+6), and UT Southern's Maryssa Bloom (+7) round out the top five of the 83-golfer.
Tournament host Dalton State (+31, 607) holds a seven-stroke lead over second place SCAD Savannah (+38) with Marian and William Carey lurking in third and fourth at 42-over and 46-over, respectively.
The tournament field features eight nationally ranked teams – including six of the top 10 – and two others that are receiving votes, making it arguably the strongest that BU has faced so far this season.
Bellevue improved on their first round team score of 61-over, following up with a 45-over second round for a team total of 682 (+106) through 36 holes.
Nellie Forsen is tied in 54th place at 23-over (167). She improved one stroke on a 12-over first round with an 11-over score in the second round.
Isabella Gomez shot 26-over (170) on the day to find herself in 61st place overall. She shaved two strokes off her 14-over first round to post a 12-over second round.
Patricija Jakovleva (+28) and Shreya Suresh (+29) are tied for 65th and in 68th place, respectively. Both carded 11-over scores in the second round with Jakovleva shooting 17-over in the first and Suresh posting an 18-over first round.
Final round play tees off tomorrow morning with an 8:30 a.m. Eastern (7:30 a.m. Central) shotgun start.
