Forsen top BU finisher at Swan Memorial
BROOMFIELD, Colo. -- Nellie Forsen shot a 5-over second round on Tuesday as she was the Bruins' top finisher at the Swan Memorial, the first tournament of the season for the Bellevue University women's golf team.
The 36-hole event, hosted by Colorado Christian University, was played at the 5,997-yard, par-72 Broadlands Golf Course. Bellevue was the lone NAIA institution competing in the 11-team, 66-golfer field that featured 10 NCAA Division II programs.
Bellevue did not post a team score as they had just three golfers compete at the event.
Forsen, who began the day tied for 10th, posted a 5-over 77 on the day to finish in 16th place at 8-over with a two-day total of 152. Her round was highlighted by a pair of birdies on the back nine, doing so on the 355-yard, par four No. 11 and the 479-yard, par 5 No. 15.
Shreya Suresh shot a 6-over 78 on Tuesday to finish at 9-over with a 36-hole total of 153, good for 21st place overall.
Patricija Jakovleva was 14-over on the day to finish at 25-over (169) for the tournament and place 59th overall. She made seven pars on the day to close out her first collegiate event.
Bellevue returns to the links on Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 15-16 when they compete at the Dickinson Fall Invitational which will be held at Heart River Golf Course.
