Suresh, Forsen tied for 10th after opening round at Swan Memorial
BROOMFIELD, Colo. -- The Bellevue University women's golf team opened its 2025-26 season Monday at the Swan Memorial, with a pair of Bruins sitting inside the top 10 following the first round.
The 36-hole event, hosted by Colorado Christian University, is being played at the 5,997-yard, par-72 Broadlands Golf Course. Bellevue is the lone NAIA institution in the 11-team field that features 10 NCAA Division II programs. With only three players competing, the Bruins are not posting a team score.
Shreya Suresh and Nellie Forsen led the way with matching 3-over rounds of 75, putting them in a tie for 10th place. Suresh finished strong, recording birdies on holes 13 and 18 to shoot a 2-under back nine after a 5-over front. Forsen displayed steady play throughout the round, totaling 13 pars on her way to a 75 that included a 1-over front nine and 2-over back nine.
Patricija Jakovleva carded an 83 (+11) to tie for 48th. After a 9-over front nine, she settled in on the back, going just 2-over to close her round.
Colorado State University-Pueblo leads the team standings at 7-over (295), with CSU Los Angeles and host Colorado Christian tied for second at 11-over (299).
The Swan Memorial concludes with final-round play on Tuesday (Sept. 10). Bellevue will tee off in a 9 a.m. (CT) shotgun start.
