Bruins tied for first after opening day at OUAZ Fall Invite
Led by Maria Pinedo, the Bruins occupy three of the top 10 spots in the OUAZ Fall Invitational as the Bellevue University women's golf team is tied for first place after the opening two rounds of play at the 54-hole event being played at the 5,840-yard, par-72 Sterling Grove Golf Club. The six-team tournament consisted of 36 holes today, with the final 18 holes to be completed tomorrow.

The Bruins fired a first-round team score of 7-over par 295 and a second-round team total of 22-over 310. The 29-over BU total tied co-leader Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) University, who finished with rounds of 296 and 309. Victoria (B.C) University is a distant third at 49-over par.
Pinedo is currently in first place in the 30-player field at 1-under-par after 36 holes. She finished the opening round with an even-par 72, recording three birdies, three bogeys, and 12 pars. She followed that up with a 1-under par 71, collecting four birdies on the back nine and one on the front nine.
Pinedo holds a four-stroke lead over first-round leader Kaetlin Halseth of Embry-Riddle.
After recording a 3-over 39 on the front nine, Ilysia Ibnu rebounded with 4-under 32 on the back nine for a 1-under par 71 in the first round. After posting a bogey on the par-4 10th hole to go 4-over, Ibnu went 5-under par on the final eight holes, including an eagle and three straight birdies.
Ibnu finished the second round with a 7-over 79, putting her in fourth place in the individual standings at 6-over par.
Chloe Blandinieres opened with a 2-over 74, posting identical scores of 37 on the front and back nine. She had one birdie, three bogeys, and 14 pars in the first round. Blandinieres compiled an 8-over 80 in the second round, landing her in a tie for ninth place at 10-over par for the tournament.
Tilde-Li Andersson registered rounds of 6-over par 78 and 8-over par 80, putting her at 14-over for the tournament and in a tie for 14th place. She collected two birdies and 21 pars on the day.
Aaricia Noel-Traissac posted an 11-over 83 and a 12-over 84 and is currently in 25th place. She had two birdies and 17 pars in her two rounds.
Competing as an individual, Megan Harty carded rounds of 17-over 89 and 21-over 93 and is in 28th place at 38-over par.
The final round will begin with an 8 a.m. (MST) shotgun start on Tuesday (Oct. 1).
