Pinedo claims NSAA Golfer of the Week accolades
For the second time this season and the 10th time in her BU career, senior Maria Pinedo has earned North Star Athletic Association Women's Golfer of the Week honors for her performances in the opening two rounds of the NSAA Championships earlier this week in Carrington, N.D.
BISMARCK, N.D. -- For the second time this season and the 10th time in her BU career, senior Maria Pinedo has earned North Star Athletic Association Women's Golfer of the Week honors for her performances in the opening two rounds of the NSAA Championships earlier this week in Carrington, N.D.
Pinedo leads the individual standings at 5-under par after posting rounds of 68 and 71 on the 5,970-yard, par-72 Crossroads Golf Course. Her opening round of 4-under 68 tied a school record and helped guide the Bruins to a team school record of 4-under par 284. Her first-round score tied Dominika Gradecka's round of 68 set during the 2020-21 season. Pinedo, who started her first round on the 10th hole and finished even par after nine holes, was 4-under par on the front nine. She had six birdies on the day with 11 pars and a double bogey. Her second round consisted of five birdies, four bogeys, and nine pars.
Bellevue is at even par after two rounds of the NSAA Championships after finishing with a 4-over team total of 292 in the second round, combined with Sunday's 4-under 284. BU holds a 24-stroke lead over Dickinson State University. The University of Jamestown is a distant third, 51 strokes off the pace.
The final two rounds of the 72-hole tournament will be played in the spring on Monday-Tuesday, Apr. 28-29, at Woodland Hills Golf Course in Eagle, Neb.
