OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- Behind sophomore Faustina Peve, the Bellevue University women's golf team is in fourth place after the opening day of the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic being played at the 6,010-yard, par-72 Lincoln Park Golf Course Monday afternoon.
The Bruins, who played 36 holes, shot a team score of 620 (315-305) on the day. Texas Wesleyan leads the tournament after shooting team rounds of 298 and 285 for a 583 two-round total. Host school Oklahoma City University is six strokes back at 589 and McLennan Community College is in third after shooting identical team scores of 295 for a 590 total.
Peve is currently tied for seventh in the individual standings at 4-over par after carding rounds of 76 and even-par 72. Madison Brooks is tied for 17th at 10-over par. Brooks improved her opening round score by eight strokes with rounds of 81 and 73.
Kim Moore is tied for 19th at 11-over par (77-78 -- 155). Morgan Hazzard and Bri Stagge are both tied for 39th at 26-over par.
Oklahoma City's Savannah Moody leads the 52-player field at 6-under par.
The final round will begin on Tuesday with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
