ST. ANNE, ILL. -- The Bellevue University women's golf team had three golfers in the top five, giving the Bruins the lead by eight strokes after the first round of the seven-team Olivet Nazarene Fall Invite being played at Elks Country Club.
Bellevue shot a team total of 33-over par 321, eight strokes ahead of second-place William Penn University.
Faustina Peve was the top BU golfer on the day, finishing at 6-over par, 78, putting her in third place in the 46-player field. Madison Brooks fired a 7-over 79 and is in fourth place. Kim Moore shot n 8-over 80 and sits in fifth place.
Morgan Hazzard was 12-over par with an 84, good for a tie for ninth place. Allison Temple carded an 89 and is tied for 22nd place.
Columbia's Michele Clark leads the tournament field at 4-over par after the opening round.
Saturday's final round will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
