Bruins place sixth at Claud Jacobs Invitational

BELLEVUE, Neb. - The Bellevue University women's golf team saw three golfers finish in the top-20 overall en route to a sixth place finish at the Claud Jacobs Challenge hosted by the University of Houston-Victoria. After finished the first two rounds in a tie for sixth place with William Carey University, the Bruins were able to climb into sole possession of sixth place but unable to rise any higher in the 14-team event played at The Club at Colony Creek.

The Bruins shot 926 as a team, 24 shots off the pace of host and tournament champion Houston-Victoria (902). Wayland Baptist (910) placed second followed by Texas Wesleyan (917) and Cal. State-San Marcos (920) while Oklahoma City rounded out the top five with a score of 923.

Junior Renee Santoyo (Guadalupe, Mexico) shot a team-best 3-over on the day and she was followed closely by classmates Charlene Dubois (Salbris, France) and Maria Saavedra (Mexico City, Mexico) at 5- and 6-over, respectively. Santoyo finished tied for 12^th overall while Saavedra tied for 13^th and Dubois finished in a tie for 16^th place.

Junior Natalia Soria (La Paz, Bolivia) shots 17-over on the day and finished tied for 46^th while junior Karissa Moreland (North Platte, Neb.) shot an 11-over and finished tied for 55^th.

The Bruins will return to the links on Monday, March 23 when they take part in the two-day Primm Battle in Las Vegas, Nev.
