Beran, Ellison named to CSC Academic All-District team
GREENWOOD, Ind. – The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced its 2025-26 women's basketball Academic All-District Teams Tuesday afternoon. Among those recognized were Bellevue University's Joy Beran (Lime Springs, Iowa) and Karoline Ellison (Victorville, Calif.).
Student-athletes from NCAA Division I, II, and III, as well as the NAIA, were recognized for the honor.
Beran, a junior forward majoring in Business Administration, owns a 4.00 cumulative GPA. She garnered second-team all-Frontier Conference and Academic all-Frontier Conference honors in her debut season with the Bruins while starting all 27 games. Beran finished second on the team in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 10.6 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 28.9 minutes per game. She shot 43.3 percent from the field, 27.6 percent from 3-point range and 81.0 percent at the free-throw line. Beran totaled 286 points, 180 rebounds, 36 assists, 25 steals, and 12 blocks, reaching double figures in scoring 14 times and producing four double-doubles. Her top scoring effort came with 19 points against No. 5 Dakota State on Nov. 15. Beran's 81.0 percent free-throw mark ranks fifth on BU's single-season chart, while her 73 offensive rebounds and 180 total rebounds rank ninth and 10th, respectively, in program history.
Ellison, a junior guard majoring in Biology, also carries a 4.00 cumulative GPA. She played in 25 games and made 13 starts at point guard during her first campaign in a Bruin uniform, averaging 6.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.2 steals in 24.2 minutes per contest. Ellison shot 40.1 percent from the field, 31.6 percent from 3-point range, and 58.5 percent at the free-throw line. She closed the season with 164 points, 95 rebounds, 41 assists, 31 steals and five blocks. Ellison scored in double figures nine times, highlighted by a season-high 13 points to go with five assists and three steals against Montana Western on Feb. 14. She also contributed 12 points, six rebounds and three assists versus No. 23 Rocky Mountain on Feb. 7.
To be nominated, the student-athlete must be a sophomore both academically and athletically. They must have competed in 90 percent of the institution's games or must have started in at least 66 percent of the games. The student-athlete also must hold at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale. Graduate students must have a minimum 3.50 GPA for both their undergraduate and graduate studies.
Eligible student-athletes will move on to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, with the Academic All-America Teams scheduled to be announced April 15.
The Bruins closed the 2025-26 season with a 10-17 overall record and a 6-16 mark in Frontier Conference play. BU placed 10th in the league's regular-season standings.
