No. 5 Trojans use hot shooting to top BU in Frontier opener
BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Fifth-ranked Dakota State University put together an elite offensive performance on Saturday night, knocking down 13 three-pointers and shooting 65 percent from the field in a 105–57 win over Bellevue University in the Frontier Conference opener at the BU Fieldhouse.
The Bruins fell to 3–2 on the season and 0–1 in the Frontier Conference, while DSU improved to 5–1 overall and 1–0 in league play.
The Trojans' efficiency was the story of the night. Dakota State shot 41-of-63 overall (65.1%), went 13-of-26 from behind the arc (50%), and assisted on 28 of its 41 made baskets. Bellevue competed on the offensive glass but struggled to slow DSU's pace and perimeter rhythm.

Dakota State opened fast, using a pair of early threes in a 5-of-10 start to take a 12–4 lead. Bellevue responded with five straight points, including a Danielle Coyer triple, to pull within 12–9. The Trojans countered by hitting five of their final six attempts of the period, extending the margin to 24–13 after one.
Second Quarter
The Trojans continued their strong shooting, adding 25 points in the second quarter while converting better than 70 percent from the floor. Joy Beran kept the Bruins competitive with interior scoring and second-chance buckets, but DSU grew the lead to 49–25 at halftime.
Third Quarter
Dakota State delivered the decisive blow in the third frame, outscoring BU 28–17 and shooting a scorching 70.6% for the period. Bria Wasmund knocked down her second and third threes of the night, while Tabor Teel and Caitlin Dyer repeatedly scored in transition and at the rim.
Bellevue saw a spark from Dru Zoucha, who buried a pair of threes in the quarter, and Beran added seven more points, but the Trojans pushed the advantage to 77–42 heading into the fourth.
