Three Bruins earn CSC Academic All-District honors
2026 CSC Academic All-District Softball Teams
GREENWOOD, Ind. — Bellevue University juniors Marguerite Brown, Mariah Unverzagt, and Breanne McMurtry were named to the 2026 College Sports Communicators Softball Academic All-District Team, the organization announced today.
The CSC Academic All-District program honors top student-athletes from NCAA Division I, II, and III, as well as the NAIA, for their combined achievements in competition and in the classroom.

Brown was named Frontier Conference Newcomer of the Year, first-team all-Frontier Conference, and to the Frontier Conference Tournament All-Tournament Team after starting all 54 games at catcher in her first season at Bellevue University. She led BU in batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, hits, doubles, runs scored, and total bases, while ranking second on the team in home runs and RBIs.
Brown batted .460 with a .510 on-base percentage and .781 slugging percentage, totaling 86 hits, 43 runs, 29 doubles, two triples, nine home runs, 40 RBIs, and 146 total bases. She set BU single-season records for batting average and doubles, while also ranking fourth in hits, fifth in on-base percentage, sixth in total bases, and 10th in slugging percentage on the program's single-season charts. Brown was also named Frontier Conference Player of the Week on March 16 and earned academic all-Frontier Conference honors.

Mariah Unverzagt | Junior | Pitcher/Utility | Papillion, Neb.
Unverzagt earned second-team all-Frontier Conference honors and was selected to the Frontier Conference Tournament All-Tournament Team after starting all 54 games while contributing as a pitcher, outfielder, infielder, and designated player. She led Bellevue University in triples and stolen bases, ranked second in runs scored, and placed third in hits.
Unverzagt batted .361 with a .423 on-base percentage and .497 slugging percentage, finishing with 61 hits, 39 runs, nine doubles, four triples, two home runs, 27 RBIs, and 17 stolen bases. In the circle, she made 27 appearances, including 15 starts, and went 8-10 with two saves and a 3.88 ERA, striking out a team-high 65 batters over 104.2 innings. Her four triples tied for ninth on BU's single-season records chart. Unverzagt was also named an NAIA Scholar-Athlete and an academic all-Frontier Conference selection.

Breanne McMurtry | Junior | First Base | Bellevue, Neb.
McMurtry started 47 games at first base and earned NAIA Scholar-Athlete and academic all-Frontier Conference honors. She led Bellevue University in home runs and RBIs, while ranking second on the team in doubles and slugging percentage.
McMurtry batted .305 with a .384 on-base percentage and .629 slugging percentage, totaling 46 hits, 29 runs, 16 doubles, 11 home runs, 44 RBIs, 19 walks, and 95 total bases. She finished with 13 multi-hit games, 13 multi-RBI games, and 10 games with a home run. Her 28 career home runs and 61 career walks are each tied for seventh in program history.

CSC Academic All-District Criteria
To be nominated, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically and hold a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Position players must compete in at least 90 percent of their team's games or start at least 66 percent, while pitchers must make at least 17 appearances or throw a minimum of 35 innings. Transfer and graduate students must also meet GPA requirements specific to their previous and current institutions.
Academic All-America Ballot
All three Bellevue honorees will move on to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, with the announcement of those teams scheduled for June 16.
The Bruins finished the 2026 season with a 25-29 overall record and a 10-16 mark in the Frontier Conference, advancing to the championship game of the Frontier Conference Tournament before falling to league champion Dickinson State, 5-4.
