BU Softball sweeps Frontier Conference weekly honors
HELENA, Mont. -- The Bellevue University softball team swept the weekly Frontier Conference honors, with freshman pitcher Carly Bertolini (Papillion, Neb.) taking home Pitcher of the Week accolades and sophomore shortstop Kaitlyn Fisher (Omaha, Neb.) collecting Player of the Week recognition.
The Bruins went 3-1 at the Top Gun NAIA Midwest College Classic in Shawnee, Kan., picking up wins over Park University, Briar Cliff University, and the College of Saint Mary, alongside a narrow 2-1 loss to Baker University.
Carly Bertolini | Frontier Conference Pitcher of the Week
Bertolini secured her first two collegiate victories over the weekend, working 10 innings without allowing an earned run. She pitched a complete-game five-hitter in a 10-2 win over Park University before firing a one-hit shutout in an 8-0, five-inning victory over the College of Saint Mary. For the week, the right-hander struck out seven batters and issued just two walks.
Kaitlyn Fisher | Frontier Conference Player of the Week
Fisher recorded hits in all four games over the weekend, including three multi-hit performances, to help the Bellevue offense hit .394 as a team. She went 8-for-15 at the plate, batting .533 with an .800 slugging percentage. Fisher scored five runs, drove in four, and tallied one double. She also launched a two-run home run and delivered the game-ending walk-off hit in the 8-0 win against the College of Saint Mary.

Bellevue heads to Melbourne, Fla., for eight games in the Space Coast Spring Games. The Bruins begin play with a doubleheader on Sunday, March 8, against Florida National University and Olivet Nazarene University at 11:15 a.m. and 3:45 p.m., respectively.
