Back-to-back: Jurek is Pitcher of the Week again
Lauren Jurek went 2-0 with a 0.50 ERA and 0.786 WHIP to take home NSAA Pitcher of the Week honors for the second-straight week.
BISMARCK, N.D. -- Bellevue University student-athlete Lauren Jurek (Bellevue, Neb.) has been recognized as the North Star Athletic Association's Softball Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the NSAA office on Monday afternoon.
Jurek won both of her starts last week, allowing just one runs in wins over Dakota State and Waldorf by scores of 8-1 and 4-0, respectively. She struck out 10 in a pair of complete game efforts while posting a 0.786 WHIP.
The senior right-hander needed just 85 pitches to go the distance against the Trojans, scattering six hits after finessing her way out of a bases loaded jam with no outs in the second allowing just one run. She followed that up by firing a four-hit shutout against Waldorf in which she struck out seven and firing in just 94 pitches.
This season, Jurek sports an 8-2 record and 2.17 ERA. She has racked up 47 strikeouts in 48.1 innings of work while limiting opponents to just a .225 batting average. In addition to her prowess in the circle, Jurek is hitting .341 with a 1.005 OPS, 20 RBI, 11 doubles, and four home runs.
Winners of 11-straight and owners of a 27-9 overall, BU is alone atop the NSAA Standings at 16-2, two and a half games ahead of second place Dakota State. Bellevue kicks off a scheduled nine-game road swing on Wednesday with a 2 p.m. match-up against Peru State.
