Lara Flores, Mallow earn CSC Academic All-District honors
GREENWOOD, Ind. — Bellevue University men's cross country and track student-athletes Jose Lara Flores and Xavier Mallow were named to the 2025-26 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, the organization announced today.
Student-athletes from NCAA Division I, II, and III, as well as the NAIA, were recognized for the honor, which highlights achievement in competition and in the classroom.
Lara Flores, a senior from Omaha, Neb., earned NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors and was named academic all-Frontier Conference during both the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons. He was also selected as the Frontier Conference Champion of Character for the indoor season.
During the 2025 cross country season, Lara Flores turned in his top 8K time of 25:31.7 at the Dordt University-Holiday Inn Express Classic and completed the Frontier Conference Cross Country Championships in 26:10.9. On the track, he posted his fastest indoor 3,000-meter time of 8:54.43 at the SDSU Last Chance and recorded his top indoor 5,000-meter mark of 15:27.33 at the Frontier Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships. Outdoors, Lara Flores ran 4:03.94 in the 1,500 meters at the Prairie Wolf Invite and clocked 15:07.37 in the 5,000 meters at the Jim Dutcher Memorial Classic.
Mallow, a sophomore from Papillion, Neb., earned NAIA Scholar-Athlete recognition and was named to the academic all-Frontier Conference team in both the indoor and outdoor seasons.
Mallow clocked his fastest 8K of the 2025 cross country season at the Dordt University-Holiday Inn Express Classic, finishing in 26:09.3, before running 26:33.0 at the Frontier Conference Cross Country Championships. During the indoor track season, he posted his top mile time of 4:25.47 at the Concordia Classic and ran on Bellevue's distance medley relay team, which finished in 10:27.08 at the SDSU Indoor Classic. Outdoors, Mallow posted marks of 2:00.67 in the 800 meters at the Prairie Wolf Invite, 4:09.16 in the 1,500 meters at the Jim Dutcher Memorial Classic, and 16:33.66 in the 5,000 meters at the Kip Janvrin Open. He also helped BU's 4x800 relay clock an 8:00.24 at the Drake Relays.
To be eligible for CSC Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must be at least sophomores academically and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher.
Lara Flores and Mallow are now eligible for CSC Academic All-America honors, which will be announced Tuesday, July 14.
