Bruin Track adds two to 2025-26 recruit class
With the signing of two men to the 2025-26 recruiting class, the Bruin track program begins its expansion to include all track events and limited field events by the 2027 indoor season.
Avan Salas joins the Bruins from South Sioux City, Neb., where he specialized in the 200-meter dash and was a two-time Nebraska Class A state qualifier. He holds a personal best of 22.68 seconds for 200 meters. He also competed at 100 meters, 400 meters, and the long jump and was a mainstay in many of the Cardinals' relay squads.
Joining Salas will be Bellevue West's Justin Miller, who competed in a wide range of events from 400 meters to cross country over his four years with the Thunderbirds. Miller brings personal bests of 54.38 for 400 and 2:03.84 for 800 meters to the Bruins. Miller will complete basic training with the Army Reserve prior to his entry to BU next spring.
Head Coach Craig Christians: "We're entering an exciting period of growth for the program at BU, and I'm excited to begin with two quality men like Avan and Justin. They both welcome the chance to be at the ground floor of our expansion and are committed to working hard to move us forward."
The Bruins are currently offering scholarship opportunities as they expand from a "distance only" program to one that will include all events on the track by the 2027 indoor season. The addition of field events will likely occur at a later date.
