Bellevue sweeps CAC weekly honors
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Bellevue University junior forward Adam Sherwood (Lowestoft, England) and sophomore goalkeeper Kaden Simpson (Omaha, Neb.) have been chosen as the Continental Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Players of the Week, as announced by the CAC office on Monday morning.
Sherwood scored the game-winning goal in BU's 1-0 triumph at Columbia College last week in the game's 56th minute. The goal was his team-leading ninth and fourth game-winner of the season as he collected his first CAC weekly award of the season.
Simpson earned his second weekly award of the season after he made four saves to preserve his seventh – and the team's eighth – shutout of the season. With back-to-back clean sheets, he has now gone over 200 minutes since conceding a goal. He has a 1.20 goals against average and .731 save percentage for the year.
The No. 24-ranked Bruins (9-6-1) travel to Bartlesville, Okla. on Wednesday, Oct. 22 for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff against No. 1-ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan University.
