Simpson honored as CAC Defensive Player of the Week
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Bellevue University sophomore Kaden Simpson (Omaha, Neb.) has been named the Continental Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the CAC office on Tuesday morning
Simpson allowed just one goal in two matches for the Bruins last week against a pair of Top 25 opponents. A fifth minute goal from William Penn on Wednesday was the lone goal he allowed as he did not allow another over the next 175+ minutes. He finished with a pair of saves against the No. 2-ranked Statesmen, including a second half save of a penalty to keep BU within striking distance.
In a scoreless draw at No. 23 Clarke, Simpson made a career-high nine saves to keep his third clean sheet of the season.
Simpson leads the nation with three shutouts and his 16 saves on the year are good for 14th in the NAIA. He has posted a 0.25 goals against average and .941 save percentage through four games.
The Bruins (2-1-1) travel to Sioux City, Iowa on Wednesday for a 3:30 p.m. match against Briar Cliff University at Faber Field.
