Richardson takes home CAC Defensive honors
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Bellevue University freshman defender Stanley Richardson (Ipswich, England) has been named the Continental Athletic Conference's Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the CAC office on Monday.
Richardson netted the game-winner in the 85th minute of Saturday's road win over Hastings College. With a shade over five minutes to play, Richardson leapt up to meet a corner kick and rifled a header inside the back post to account of the lone goal of the game, lifting BU to a 2-0-0 start to the season.
Defensively, Richardson helped anchor a Bruin defense that posted a pair of shutout victories in the season's opening week, limiting the opposition to just a combined five shots on target in 180 minutes of action.
The goal and the CAC Player of the Week honor are each the first of his collegiate career.
