Lira named MCAC Offensive Player of the Week
Manuel Lira was named MCAC Offensive Player of the Week for the second time
BELLEVUE, Neb. - Bellevue senior Manuel Lira (Guadalajara, Mexico) has been named Midlands College Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference. It is the second time in his career that Lira has won the honor with the other occuring on Nov. 4, 2013.
Lira had the best offensive week of the season by any Bellevue player this past week scoring five goals and helping the Bruins to a perfect 2-0 record. In a 4-0 victory at York on Wednesday Lira scored his first career hat trick. He followed that performance up with a pair of goals in Saturday's 3-1 victory at Central Baptist.
The No. 15 Bruins are now 12-2-1 on the year (4-0-0 MCAC) and have already clinched at least a share of the MCAC Regular Season title and home field advantage throughout the MCAC Tournament.
The men's soccer team will wrap up the regular season with a 5:30 p.m. match-up against MCAC foe Waldorf College on Wednesday at Tranquility Park in Omaha.
