DES MOINES, Iowa -- In a rematch of last year's NAIA National Tournament Opening Round match, No. 12-ranked Grand View University used two second-half goals to produce a 2-0 shutout victory over the Bellevue University men's soccer team in the season opener for both teams Saturday night at Spring Creek Complex.
The Bruins managed just one shot on the evening and BU goal keeper Scott Robertson registered five saves, while giving up both goals in the loss.
After a scoreless first half, Brian Lee scored the game's first goal in the 68th minute on a cross from Travis Barton. The Vikings added an insurance goal in the 80th minute when Andrew McLeavy found the back of the net from an assist by Paul Riesthuis.
Bellevue travels to Crete, Neb. on Wed., Aug. 27, for a 6 p.m. match at Doane College.
