Eight Bruins earn all-MCAC honors
Carr, Lira, Veidman and Waters earn first team all-MCAC honors and another four members of the Bellevue men's soccer team were awarded second team all-conference accolades.
BARTLESVILLE, Okla. -- Alan Carr, Manuel Lira, Leigh Veidman and Jamie Waters each earned first team all-MCAC honors and another four members of the Bellevue University men's soccer team were awarded second team all-conference accolades.
Lee Woolmore, Jacob Cawsey, Tobias Maertzke and Rob Jackson each earned second team all-MCAC accolades.
Lira earned first team all-MCAC honors for the first time in his career after he scored four goals with four assists on the season. He was named the MCAC Offensive Player of the Week on Nov. 4 after he notched a pair of assists and scored the game-tying goal at Waldorf College.
Veidman currently leads the Bruins with five goals and also recorded 36 shots. He was named the conference's Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 28 after scoring three goals against York College.
Waters earned first team all-MCAC honors for the second-consecutive season in 2013. The Skegness, England native has started nine games and has recorded two assists and one goal.
Carr started 11 matches in the BU backfield and tallied one assist.
For the second-straight season, Cawsey and Jackson earned second team all-conference honors. Cawsey notched two goals and two assists to go along with 17 shots. Jackson was named the MCAC Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 30 and scored five goals this year.
Maertzke led BU with six assists and added two goals while Woolmore netted a pair of goals on the season.
Bellevue ended the 2013 regular season with a 7-8-0 overall record and a 4-1-0 conference mark. The Bruins will play Waldorf in the MCAC Tournament on Friday, Nov. 15 at 10:00 a.m. in Bartlesville, Okla.
