Men's soccer favored to win MCAC title

POINT LOOKOUT, MO. - Bellevue University topped the MCAC Men's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll released Wednesday (Aug. 25). The Bruins are tied for 21st in the NAIA Preseason top 25 poll.

Bellevue returns eight starters from last season's team that finished with a 14-4-1 record, advancing to the second round of the NAIA National Championship before losing to eventual national champion Lindsey Wilson. The Bruins return the school's career goal leader Mark Heath-Preston who is a two-time MCAC Offensive Player of the Year. Bellevue returns six first team all-MCAC selections and one second teamer.

Oklahoma Wesleyan University earned the No. 2 position in the MCAC Preseason Poll. The Eagles posted a 2-1 record in conference play last season (5-11-1 overall).

Rounding out the rankings are York College (t3), Central Christian College (t3) and Southwestern Christian University (5).

The Bruins open the 2010 season on Saturday, Aug. 28, when they host MidAmerica Nazarene University at 3 p.m. at Tranquility Park.
