Rodgers secures top-10 finish, Bruins place seventh
MANHATTAN, Kan. -- Concluding the final 18 holes of the 54-hole Midwest National Spring Invite on Tuesday, the Bellevue University men's golf team finished in seventh place, led by a top-10 individual placement from Dylan Rodgers.
The tournament was held at the 7,049-yard, par-72 Colbert Hills Golf Course.
The Bruins carded a three-round team total of 909 (+45) to secure seventh in the 10-team field. No. 15 Missouri Valley claimed the team title, finishing at even-par to secure a 17-stroke victory over second-place No. 22 Hastings (+17). Kansas Wesleyan (+24) took third, followed by Grand View (+32) and Morningside (+37) to complete the top five.
At the top of the individual leaderboard, Missouri Valley's Joaquin Raminger captured the medalist honors after shooting a 5-under 67 in the final round to finish at 10-under par. His teammate, Felipe Suarez, took second at 7-under par, while Grand View's Jack Winkel finished third at 2-under par.
Rodgers paced the Bruins, climbing the leaderboard to finish tied for eighth place at 5-over par. After shooting 77 and 71 on Monday, he closed with a 1-over 73 in the final round. His Tuesday scorecard featured 13 pars, and he finished out his tournament strong by sinking birdie putts on the 344-yard, par-4 13th and the 423-yard, par-4 18th holes.
Randy Christiansen secured a top-15 finish, tying for 15th place at 8-over par. He followed his opening day scores of 72 and 74 with a final-round 78. Despite a challenging start to his Tuesday round, Christiansen caught fire late on the back nine, rattling off three consecutive birdies on the 365-yard, par-4 15th, the 495-yard, par-5 16th, and the 214-yard, par-3 17th holes.
Thomas Gatlin vaulted into a tie for 19th place at 10-over par after firing a 1-over 73 in the final round. Rebounding from an 81 on Monday afternoon, Gatlin circled five numbers on his Tuesday scorecard. He took advantage of the 403-yard, par-4 6th, the 201-yard, par-3 11th, the 344-yard, par-4 13th, the 365-yard, par-4 15th, and the 495-yard, par-5 16th holes.
Ludwig Klingspor finished tied for 38th place at 23-over par. Following rounds of 75 and 78 on Monday, he carded an 86 on Tuesday, registering a pair of birdies on the 403-yard, par-4 6th and the 495-yard, par-5 16th holes.
Martin Hempston rounded out the Bellevue lineup, finishing in 51st place at 30-over par with a final-round 85. He sank his lone birdie putt of the day on the 374-yard, par-4 2nd hole.
