Gatlin Leads Bruins to Sixth-Place Finish at Flyer Intercollegiate
LEMONT, Ill. — The Bellevue University men's golf team closed out its fall season with a sixth-place finish at the Flyer Intercollegiate, played Monday and Tuesday at Cog Hill Golf & Country Club's Dubsdread Course.
The Bruins posted rounds of 314–310–313 for a 937 (+73) team total, finishing three strokes ahead of McKendree (940) and four behind fifth-place and tournament host Lewis (933) in the 15-team field.
Thomas Gatlin led Bellevue with a three-round total of 229 (+13) to finish tied for ninth individually. Gatlin carded rounds of 76–78–75, highlighted by birdies on Nos. 5 and 18 in Tuesday's final round.
Dylan Rodgers tied for 17th with a 234 (+18) total, following up a 2-over 74 in Round 2 with a final-round 79. Rodgers' second-round 74 was the Bruins' lowest round of the tournament.
Kyle Dale tied for 24th at 235 (+19) after rounds of 77–77–81, closing with a birdie on the 18th hole.
Ludwig Klingspor tied for 33rd at 239 (+23) with rounds of 80–81–78, featuring a birdie on the par-4 fourth in the final round.
Randy Christiansen placed 73rd with a 54-hole total of 256 (+40), shooting rounds of 82–85–89.
Three players — Garrett James (Trine), Shane Stanley (UW-Parkside), and Tyler Annala (Northern Michigan) — shared medalist honors at 221 (+5).
UW-Parkside captured the team title with a 900 (+36) total, finishing 16 strokes clear of runner-up Trine (916).
Bellevue's 937 (+73) marked the Bruins' fifth top-10 finish of the fall campaign.
