Bruins second after two rounds of Dickinson Fall Invite
Gatlin tied atop leaderboard at Dickinson Fall Invite
DICKINSON, N.D. -- Two Bruins find themselves in contention and the Bellevue University men's golf team is in second place after two rounds of play at the Dickinson Fall Invitational being played at the 6,734-yard, par 72 Heart River Golf Course and hosted by Dickinson State University.
Rocky Mountain College holds a 14-stroke lead atop the team leaderboard with Bellevue in second. The Bruins are 13-under through 36 holes while second place Rocky Mountain College is 27-under through the first two rounds of play.
Bellevue and Rocky Mountain were each 9-under through the first round of play and Rocky nudged ahead with an 18-under second round to BU's 4-under round. Montana Tech is third at 7-over followed by Dickinson State at 16-over.
Carroll College (32), Mayville State University (34), Providence University (42), and Valley City State University (44) round out the field.
Bellevue's Thomas Gatlin is two strokes back of individual leader Kristjan Burkelca in the 52-golfer field. Gatlin finished his day at 8-under while Burkelca is 10-under through 36 holes, carding a pair of 68s on the day. Gatlin birdied five holes in his first round, including four in a 4-under back nine, and added four more birdies in the second round while recording just one bogey across two rounds of play.
Dylan Rodgers is fourth overall at 5-under. He posted a 4-under 68 first round in which he birdied six holes and came back with a 1-under 71 in the second round where he tacked on four more birdies. He also made eagle on the par-5 No. 18 in his second round.
Randy Christiansen is tied for ninth overall at 2-under. Christiansen fired a 3-under 69 first round and backed it up with a solid 1-over 73 in the second. His day was highlighted by eight birdies.
Kyle Dale is tied for 14th at 3-over. He carded a 74 in the first round and a 73 in the second totaling seven birdies on the day.
Ludwig Klingspor shot 3-over 75 in the first round and 4-over 76 in the second round. He finds himself tied for 17th place overall. Among his highlights on the day were four birdies.
Third round play from the Dickinson Fall Invitational begins tomorrow morning with a shotgun start.
