SILVIS, Ill. — The Bellevue University men's golf team opened play at the 2025 NAIA Men's Golf National Championship on Wednesday with a team score of 289 (+5), placing the Bruins in a tie for sixth out of 29 teams following first-round action at the TPC at Deere Run (Par 71, 6,809 yards).
Due to inclement weather on Tuesday, no team was able to complete its round on the opening day. Half the field — including Bellevue — did not begin play until Wednesday. The championship was reduced from 72 to 54 holes and will now be played over three days.
Senior Totte Uhlan led the way for Bellevue with a 4-under 67, currently tied for third in the 156-player field. Uhlan's round included an eagle on the par-5 second hole and birdies on holes 4, 9, 11, 15, and 17. His score marked a season-low and his best round since carding a 66 as a freshman at the 2021 UC Ferguson Classic.
Junior Thomas Gatlin carded an even-par 71 to sit in a tie for 20th. Gatlin's round featured birdies on holes 4, 7, and 13, balanced by bogeys on 11, 12, and 15, along with 12 pars.
Freshman Kyle Dale shot a 3-over 74. After a bogey on No. 1, a par on No. 2, and a double bogey on No. 3, Dale responded by recording 12 pars over his next 13 holes and added a birdie on the par-4 17th.
Sophomore Dylan Rodgers carded a 1-over 36 on the front nine, highlighted by eight steady pars. Despite some challenges after the turn, he finished the day with a 77 (+6), contributing to Bellevue's balanced team effort
Senior Cayden Wynne posted an 8-over 79. His round was highlighted by birdies on holes 8, 12, and 17.
As a team, Bellevue (+5) is tied with Keiser for sixth place and sits two strokes behind a trio of teams tied for third at +3. Wayland Baptist leads the tournament at 4-under, with Dalton State in second at even par.
Dalton State's Jack Whaley leads the individual leaderboard at 10-under (61), followed by Rodolphe Cicala of Faulkner at 6-under.
