Men's Golf favored in NSAA Preseason Coaches' Poll
Bellevue is predicted to with their third-straight NSAA Championship, according to the league’s coaches
MADISON, S.D. -- The Bellevue University men's golf team has been picked to finish first in the North Star Athletic Association Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the conference office earlier today.
Bellevue collected five of the six first place votes to easily to the poll with 35 total points. Viterbo was second in the poll with 28 points while Jamestown came third with 21 points. Waldorf nabbed the other first place vote and were picked to finish fourth with 18 points. Valley City State (16 points) and Dickinson State (8 points) rounded out the poll.
Bellevue opens the 2017/18 season on Tuesday, Sept. 5 at the Southwestern Christian Fall Invitational in Oklahoma City, Okla.
There are four rounds in the North Star Athletic Association Men's Golf Tournament, with the first two rounds being held in the fall on Sept. 24-25 in Medora, N.D. and the final two rounds taking place in the spring on Apr. 23-24 in Albert Lea, Minn.
The winner of the NSAA Men's Golf Conference Tournament (after all four rounds are completed) will receive the league's automatic team bid to the NAIA National Tournament. The NAIA Men's Golf National Tournament is slated to take place at the TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill. from May 15-18.
Last season BU claimed their second-straight NSAA Tournament championship to qualify for the NAIA National Tournament where they placed 23rd as a team.
