Augustana tops Bellevue 90–63 in exhibition
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The Bellevue University men's basketball team fell 90–63 at NCAA Division II Augustana University on Sunday afternoon in an exhibition contest at the Elmen Center.
The exhibition result does not affect the Bruins' record; BU remains 8–0 overall and 3–0 in Frontier Conference play. Augustana improved to 3–3 overall and remained 1–0 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action.
How It Happened
Bellevue grabbed an early 8–6 lead on a 3-pointer by Ahamad Bynum at the 17:41 mark, but Augustana responded decisively. The Vikings held BU scoreless for more than six minutes during a 17–0 run that shifted control and built a 23–8 advantage. Augustana continued to separate throughout the half and carried a 55–26 lead into the break.
The Vikings pushed the margin to 86–46 with 6:07 to play before Bellevue closed with a 17–4 run. Jermaine Haliburton scored 16 of his team-high 16 points after halftime, Matt Mathok supplied 10 points and two blocks off the bench, and Jake Lenagh and Sandor Rodriguez added late baskets. BU outscored Augustana 37–35 in the second half.
