Monlux announces signing of RHP Wilson
BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Bellevue University baseball coach Duane Monlux announced today the signing of pitcher Sam Wilson (Holladay, Utah/Lane CC) to a letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic careers at BU beginning in the fall.
Wilson, a 6-2, 205-pound right-hander has logged 32 appearances with four starts for Lane Community College in three years at the school. He has pitched to a 2-3 record with a 2.52 ERA and a pair of saves. He has also racked up 64 strikeouts against just 12 walks in 75 innings on the mound and allowed just 49 hits accounting for a tidy 0.81 WHIP and miniscule .179 opponent batting average.
Coach Monlux on Wilson
"We are super excited to be adding Sam to our pitching staff for the 2026-27 school year. He is an upper 80s arm that really commands the strike zone, only walking 12 batters in 75 innings pitched so far in his junior college career in the NWAC. We feel like Sam can really come into our program and have an immediate impact on our team next season. We've always had quality arms on our team from the NWAC conference and Sam has the ability to be another one of those guys. We can't wait to get him on campus in the fall.
Wilson joins earlier announced signees Vaughn Wilson (SS, Riverton, Utah/Western Nebraska CC) and Cooper Wilson (MIF, Riverton, Utah/Western Nebraska CC) in the Bruins' 2026 recruiting class.
Bellevue is currently 48-4 overall on the year and won both the Frontier Conference Regular Season (24-0) and Tournament Championships. The Bruins will host an NAIA Opening Round from the Renner Dennis Outdoor Athletic Complex next Monday-Thursday, May 11-14.
