Bruins sweep weekly Frontier Conference awards
HELENA, Mont. -- Bellevue University senior outfielder Anthony Lind (Omaha, Neb.) and right-handed pitcher Brady Baltus (Beaverton, Ore.) have been named the Frontier Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.
Lind and Baltus led the Bruins to a three-game series sweep over perennial powerhouse University of Science & Arts last weekend, Bellevue's first sweep of the Drovers since 2015 and their first three-plus game sweep since 2004.
Lind registered a hit in all three games on the week, going 6-13 in the series. He homered twice in a 9-4 win in game two of Friday's double-header and produced at least one extra-base hit in all three games. In total, he scored six runs on the weekend and reached base safely multiple times in all three games.
For the season, Lind has reached safely in all 7 games this season, batting .409 with a 1.380 OPS (.536 OBP and .846 SLG) atop the Bruin lineup.
Baltus came on with BU trailing 4-2 to begin the top of the 4th in Saturday's series finale. He worked five innings of three-hit ball, striking out a pair without issuing a walk, while the offense found its groove.
His record stands at 2-0 with a 4.91 ERA across 7.1 innings of work for the season.
The Bruins (5-2) are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 18 with a double-header at Briar Cliff University beginning at noon.
